Vacancy: Board Member Commons Network

Commons Network is looking for board members!

Some of our loyal board members are leaving us due to the end of their term of office, so we are looking for new board members. 

Are you socially engaged and want to contribute to a caring society and economy? As a board member, you will help determine the direction of the organization, contribute to decision-making by assessing plans for feasibility and social impact, and play a meaningful role in shaping a more caring and just future.

Who are we looking for? 

Board member for strategy and civil society

  • Knows the Dutch context well and embraces our mission;
  • Has experience in the social or cultural sector and an eye for social developments;
  • Strategic thinker with a large network; 
  • Champion of and/or interest in system transition with a feminist perspective;
  • Preferably experience in an administrative position.

Board member for finance and operations 

  • Has financial and analytical insight and experience in a financial position, for example as a business director;
  • Has knowledge of strategic financial planning and experience in preparing annual accounts, multi-year budgets, and financial reports;
  • Is a strong sparring partner and preferably has insight into financing.


Board member for politics and advocacy 

  • Has experience with how political decision-making works and has a good understanding of social and political relations; 
  • Is a connecting, analytical thinker, strategically strong, and thinks in terms of opportunities and possibilities;
  • Has a European perspective and preferably has both a national and European network;
  • Has an affinity for and/or experience with (digital) commons, municipalism, and/or post-growth thinking;
  • Experience with advocacy, for example within an NGO or social organization, is a plus;

Work and compensation

The board meets quarterly, two or three times online. The atmosphere is open, collegial, pleasant, and engaged.

This is an unpaid position, but board members can request reimbursement for expenses incurred. Liability insurance has been taken out for the work of the board.
